Join Lucy and Wendy of What If We Create to decorate your very own willow lantern, ready to shine bright in the Great Grimsby Light Parade as part of Great Grimsby’s Christmas Festival 2025!
Workshop Date: Saturday 15 November 2025
Session Times: 10am to 11am, 11.30am to 12.30pm, 1pm to 2pm or 2.30pm to 3.30pm
Location: People Make Grimsby, Freshney Place Shopping Centre (next door to NEXT)
This free, family-friendly workshop is open to all. All materials will be provided, and you’ll have plenty of options to personalise your lantern design. Please note that crafting can get a little messy, so we recommend wearing suitable clothing – aprons will be provided.
With your finished lantern you will attend the Great Grimsby Christmas Parade on Saturday 22nd November 2025.
Participants should meet at 4:45pm at People Make Grimsby (same location as the workshop) to collect their lanterns and prepare for the parade, which will set off at 5:15pm.
If weather permits, the parade route will take us from Freshney Place to Riverhead Square, along Victoria Street, and finally to St James Square for the Christmas tree lighting – a magical finale to the day. If weather is not on our side, the parade will still take place but just inside Freshney Place Shopping Centre.

Please note: Booking is per lantern, not per person. Groups are welcome – for example, a child and adult (or a small group) can work together to create one lantern, which counts as a single booking.
Children must be accompanied by an adult. Those under 11 will need help during the workshop (15th November) and when carrying the lantern at the Parade (22nd November).
